So you want to artificially force players to dump the puck when they don't want to?…..you're suggesting EA should introduce some type of artificial mechanic that forces me to play dump and chase, just to satisfy this 'need' to have the game be completely 'sim'?
Oh, you mean like what they did with the artificial way of people cycling and playing in the offensive zone with the PRESSURE SYSTEM ? Because if it didn’t exist, people wouldn’t even sniff at the idea of making actual hockey plays…
The reason why people don’t dump and chase, is because the ONLINE gameplay is not tight enough. The team on D is not pressuring you enough at the blue, so you can do whatever you want entering the zone like it’s a open buffet and also do the ballerina once in the zone.
I’ve said this before and will say it again. The speed and setup for online is all out of whack, therefore it doesn’t require real hockey plays to even have a sniff at the net.
So that’s what @Jagavekov was referring to when he said that it’s not normal that there’s more Michigans attempts then dump and chase in EAs hockey.

Again...

So what do you propose EA do to force players to dump and chase just because it's 'sim'?

Again, it’s not forcing EA to do anything to make it artificial… It’s supposed to be there by default. Organically… If the game played more like the REAL game, you would have to dump once in awhile, because sometimes you don’t have any other choice.
Its not FORCING them to dump just for the heck of it.

the game DOES play like the REAL game but it requires both players to commit to playing a sim style. When it comes to online competition, everything is fair game and expecting every single scenario to play out EXACTLY like it does in real life is completely unrealistic.
You will NEVER EVER see 100% realistic 1:1 simulation of ANY sport on ANY console made by ANY developer. I don't understand why some of you hold the EA to this completely unattainable standard.
And before anyone comes in here saying that I'm "saying the game is perfect" - kick rocks. I've got plenty of issues with this game that I've pointed out a number of times. If I didn't give this clip the Zapruder treatment, it would've been glossed over as a 'one touch pass'.
However, when it comes to this constant drumbeat of "EA doesn't know hockey" it baffles me that some of you actually believe this. It's also baffling that I can literally right now fire up an OVP game and execute real-world hockey plays and find success, and some will continue to say doing that is literally impossible. I can also make mistakes defensively and allow a player to score 'the same goal' due to my unwillingness or obliviousness to the tactic used to score it. That's my fault. Not the game. More people would find more joy with this game if they admitted to and learned from their defensive lapses rather than constantly make claims about the Hockey Intelligence of the people who develop it.

Man you go in 25 different directions here… When did I say half the things you said in your last reply ? I’ve never said EA doesn’t know Hockey ? Or the devs working on the game….
The most flawed logic in all of this, is that when I buy a hockey game, I would expect for it to play like one. As close as it can to the real sport. What’s wrong with that ?
EA tries to cater to the casuals first and foremost and that’s where they go wrong IMO. Build your hardcore fan base and make them happy and the rest will follow along. Who will still play this game in February and buy packs ? Casuals or hardcore people ?
When I use "EA", I’m talking about corporate…. Not the DEVS that are working on the game…
And when you say that the GAME plays like the REAL game, I suggest you watch more hockey games. No offense…
