And a defender skating into his other defender and the goalie, preventing anyone from seeing that puck coming through:
And finally, a player with all of the open ice in the world to do whatever they want, completely unimpeded. You'll also notice the puck carriers feet aren't moving, they're holding the puck forehand to increase their agility, balance, etc and they use all of that to make a good play.
What do you think is wrong with this play?

@KidShowtime1867 I'd just like to point out that the game doesn't have to be 1:1 sim nor full on arcade. It is always going to be somewhere in the middle and everyone knows that, but there is no question that this year's version is much less realistic than last year's.
This is not normal and it indicates exactly what Jagavekov is saying: "...some of the reasons this game is horrible are simply choices that have been made, likely misguided attempts to cater to the lowest common denominator of potential customer."
By comparison, we had a realistic game in the past so arguments such as "how lucky we are to even have a game, its a miracle" and "do you realize how hard it is to make code" are invalid. The game is unrealistic because EA is steering it that way.
Easy fix, as proposed, would be to have different modes. I know you swear by OVP as being the gold standard, but I guarantee you interceptions and pokechecks are just as completely ineffective there as they are in HUT/EASHL and the same glitches can be found in every single mode. It's all by design.
