Hitting has always been too easy to do - while I don't personally like the changes, the new pullback does increase the skill gap a bit which I'm all for.

So you want a timing/aiming mechanic for hitting, but see no problem with not having one for one-timers?

I've mostly overcome my years of muscle memory and I'm missing hits a whole lot less. I find you really need to pick your spots carefully compared to previous years. My biggest complaint at this point is that the player getting hit seems to recover faster than the hitter. Fairly often I'll lay an opponent out flat on their back and they'll be up on their feet and back in the play before my player has finished with the follow-through animation.

One-timers are manual now with total control.

I don't remember ever saying that lol.
I'd like to think I'd excel at it with how my team gels together but the vast majority of players would have an extremely difficult time if all one timers were fully manual to the point it'd be scrapped almost immediately.
I don't think there is any vision control in the offensive zone like before and people are already posting how they keep hitting instead of shooting

Right, so it's all good when defensive actions require precise timing and analog movement, but offensively there is no timing or precise movement required. This is why the game is Harlem Globetrotters on ice and doesn't resemble hockey at all. Automated contortionist no-look puck receptions, one button Michigans, skating into the boards full speed with the puck with no consequences, etc.

So theoretically you should be a defenseman about 1/3 of the time correct? Well you will almost NEVER play forward unless you search for that. Nobody wants to play defenseman because they've stripped every tool they have. Then anytime defenseman have any tool or advantage in the game 90% of the people who play this game (forwards) complain about the advantages they have. So the defense having pole checks that aren't strong enough to dislodge the puck and hits that are more risk than reward are fine and in a good place. Suggest the hip check is too strong (to that I agree) and they all are QUICK to agree because it would handicap the defense even more if it's nerfed. They start giving more tools to the defense and yes, people are gonna complain but maybe some more people will "want" to play defense? Right now I just feel myself keeping them to the outside and not giving up a high danger shot. I can get hits once in a while.. get pokes once in a while but usually they either get it back or my stick goes for their feet instead of the puck.. it can be risky even with good attributes. Then they nerf the ability to send the puck down the ice to kill a penalty. Meanwhile offense gets icon passing in case they can't aim and one button dekes in case they're too hard because we want everyone to be able to use them.. I mean how far do we gotta go to get SOME love for defense? I know defensemen are by FAR the minority of this community but it's getting pretty bad..
