NHL 24 AI Feedback
I cannot stand the control play, the new plays, the players don’t even get the dam puck when it’s right in front of them, the computers don’t even make defensive plays at all in the attacking zone, I...
I totally agree with you. I just a lost 5-2 against a much lower team after taking a 2-0 lead in the first period. For two periods, I could barely touch the puck. My players reacted late, lost the majority of face offs, got over skate all the time while my opponent wouldn’t lose the puck no matter what I did and every shot went in. I don’t know what they are trying to accomplish with this franchise. Every year, I say to myself, it can’t be worst than last year, it’s got to be better and every year since 2020 the game is less enjoyable. It doesn’t even feel like a game of hockey game anymore.
AI teams will adjust their strategies and fight harder when they're down. This also means you need to adapt to how they're playing and adjust your own strategies and gameplay to counter their attack.
Nice try but AI players are not controlled by the us, therefore we only control one player at a time so if the other 5 (including the goalie) plays poorly. There's not much we can do about it. You can resist for a while, but not an entire game.
Also:
- when my opponent players magically block passes backward one handed but on the other end my AI players just look at the puck passing in front of them
- when my goalie gives a rebound and the puck stays right in front of him but doesn't grab it, instead he waits for my opponent to take it back to score a goal
- when the puck goes to the board and my player keeps reacting 2 seconds later than my opponent's to get it
- when a defencemen skates backward faster than McDavid on the rush
- when you hit the same player over and over with different players but he just won't loose the puck
- when you keep loosing faceoffs against lower rated players but when it's your turn to take faceoffs with a lower rated player, you keep losing them getting the "lower skill" message
What those have do to with strategies and gameplay. Those problems have been there for years and you are just making them worst year after year.
And NO, I'm not sending you videos.

The way you play will influence the decisions your a.i. makes. For example; if the player you're controlling is a defenceman and you decide to try a deep forecheck with that player - an a.i. forward with less defensive IQ will takeover that position. They will not cover players the way your defender would've.
This happens ad nauseum countless times per game. This is why you will see much more success when you know the players on your team and what position they should be playing in. So when you do take control of them in those frantic situations, you know where that player should be, and you know when to switch control to another player so as not to disrupt the coverage.
That's why some people will see the a.i. do crazy things while others seemingly don't have an issue getting their a.i. in place for executing the plays they want.
So you do have some control over the a.i. I'm not saying it's perfect. There are still issues. but you can mitigate those by being cognisant of who you're controlling and where they should be.

theres zero real hockey strategies in this game to chose from....theres zero real hockey concepts utilized by the AI...these strategies might as well be gibberish...this isnt hockey

You like videos so look at this line change and tell me what it has to do with strategy. The AI player coming out of the bench could have stopped the breakaway but instead he skated without even looking at it. That's poor programming like the majority of the gameplay of this game and don't tell me I should have taken control of the player coming out of the bench. I didn't even see the line change with the camera angle and the fact that I was trying to prevent the breakaway in my opponent zone. There are situations like this in every game I play. We constantly have to fight against was the AI players do that don’t make sense if you know how to play hockey.

MTL is on the Powerplay and you've got 3 players in deep. This is what I mean when I say; the A.i. will react to how you're playing.
It's pretty dumb that the player coming off the bench for a change doesn't recognize the breakaway developing for sure, but you have to own up to the mistakes you're making here as well.
