So i noticed on the PS store that NHL 24 just says PS5 for me but all the other ones I’ve previously played on my PS5 have had PS5/PS4 under the title, does this mean I won’t be able to download a PS4 version therefore not be able to play with my friends? Or is that what dual entitlement means? Please help thanks!

The PS4 version will definitely be able to play on your PS5, the store is just weird tries too hard to prioritize the 5 stuff more.
If you purchase the X Factor edition (dual entitlement version), you should be given the option of which to download once the redemption goes through. If it doesn't, for whatever reason, you'll need to go to your purchased tab in your library where you either
A) Click on the PS4 tile shown or
B) Press options on the PS5 tile and then select version you wish to download.
You could even buy the ps4 version directly with the store - Same rules with selecting versions apply
