EA can keep on adding these immersion breaking presentation additions that no one asked for, and yet they can't even give offline players long overdue/ bare minimum changes. Love to hear how they don't have the resources to focus on the offline modes, they're basically spitting and laughing at us at this point.

@Rigu7These replays, Carrlyn's X-factor lines, brand new x-factor menus that even tell you when x-factor players are on the ice, the pressure meter in the middle of the zone, the boards being programmed to stay in sync with said meter, turning bright red and reading FULL PRESSURE when the meter fills.

Electronic Arts (EA) has been voted the worst company in America by Consumerist’s reader poll in both 2012 and 2013 1. However, it is important to note that this is a subjective opinion and not a fact. EA has been around for decades and has seen massive success 2. It has a market capitalization of nearly $40 billion 2. While the company has seen controversy over the years, it has also been praised for its contributions to the gaming industry. For instance, EA was named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute in 2021

Thanks ChatGPT.Ethisphere allows companies to pay to be called ethical and relies on self reports of ethics. It is basically just a PR company handing out awards to the highest bidder.

I just appreciate them trying something new - I like having a more 'spotlight' feel but can see how others don't like it. I do worry, like others have stated, that we'll get less replay context for every goal if these new scenes eat up all the time
- 2 years ago@BellisJ01 It's ea Vancouver, and Vancouver isn't in the US , it is in America, more specifically north America, more specifically Canada.

No mention of making the Fortnite celebrations optional in the recent patch notes. I understand that it could not make it in the this patch but they wrote nothing about it being worked on for future patches either which is worrying.

@bg0vzeyqov1yThat's so well said. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's great when they create and add some of their ideas, but what's also good is: if they would listen to the community, to the ones who play that game, to the ones who bring the money - for creating the next game.
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero@bg0vzeyqov1y If you aren't really following they are ushering in a new era of hockey. Your hockey experience might not be what you will get because they are clearly going a route for the new youngsters. The ones that have YT videos doing sick twirly move goals. The ones that do crazy celebrations. Sometimes you have to see that maybe they aren't targeting you anymore.
Me personally I love the change. Score, spotlight celebration, 5 man celebration after, replay of the goal x2. Maybe they should just focus on HUT and WoC instead of presentation that won't be appreciated.- KidShowtime18672 years agoHero

Everything is focused on the consumer being able to do whatever they want in whatever 'universe' the game mode is based on. Further, there's an insane level of effort that is going into the user being able to 'express themselves' by way of customization, emotes, etc etc.
The changes to presentation drive this home. Sure, it's neat. Don't get me wrong. But like others have pointed out, it takes you out of the NHL broadcast experience. The camera angle is not one that's used in the real world (it would be akin to having a guy on skates who is instantly on the ice after a goal with a camera) and the lighting effects, the focus on a single player - it just doesn't fit.
But at the end of the day, it's not a huge deal.

I think much of the discontent is that whilst other major "real" sports games add celebrations, effects, bells and whistles... it is never at the expense of the core simulation experience. They never detract from a three pointer, a home run or touchdown...
This badly realized cutscene, remember your teammates are bizarrely idling whilst you're pretending to be a helicopter or whatever, is seemingly mandatory and actively ruins the immersion of the moment of what it could be like to score a goal in the real NHL.
It's disappointing that whoever is in charge of the NHL franchise has chosen to go this "Street", "Hitz" route rather than say, NBA2K's realism, depth or Eras mode.
For some, it's not a big deal... but for offline, it's a killer. I can accept the decision of the producers. They owe franchise players nothing this year; they have made no false promises.
From the full gameplay videos, it seems like a no-buy. The negatives weigh out the positives of icon passing and the audio. That's a shame, because these negatives are mostly cosmetic.

@KlariskraysNHLThey've pretty much just been focusing on HUT and WoC for years now, all this is a slap to the face for the offline community considering for YEARS now (around 7-8 or more) we still haven't gotten BASIC bare minimum additions like appearance edits to rosters/ franchise mode teams. Custom goalie helmets have been the same basic designs ever since like NHL 08 and the crowd has been the same 5-6 cloned models. There are so much more, also including gameplay issues.
There are zero excuses why EA, a billion dollar company, can't open up some edit options like hair/ hide or show some UI elements/ model 10-13 generic human models for the crowd/ let you colour a goalie helmet n add a team logo to it. They own games like The Sims so customization in any of their games shouldn't be an issue whatsoever.BTW your teammates still idle there awkwardly like they have for years, as you dance about before it cuts to a group celebration where your heights are all the same, only now there's a spotlight and they cut it before he chooses the closest one to celebrate with.

I don't think it's a bad concept. But the implementation is bad, it lacks some title for some milestones moment.
If it is to be repeated after every goal, it is very distracting from the classic graphic concept of the game.
Like when everything in the apartment is white and I put a red chair in the middle...
As part of an exceptional event with the headline 2 goals in a row, an equalizing goal in the third period 3 minutes before the end of the match, etc...He just wants to finish it, but I wouldn't completely rule it out.
- NeonSkyline212 years agoSeasoned Ace@KlariskraysNHL I'm rolling my eyes INCREDIBLY hard at you right now. There's no way in hell you actually think the "dark celebration tunnel of doom" is aesthetically pleasing. I can guarantee you that the zoomers who EA is marketing to are laughing at this change and how cheesy it looks.
The other stuff like: 5-man celly afterwards and 2x replay are great. But that's not what this thread was about. So the fact that you're including it to glaze up EA Sports is interesting.
