Offline Modes

Question

I think it’s pretty clear from the past couple years that what offline users want is the ability to customize their game to something they want.

Custom franchise and roster sharing were a great steps in the right direction.

We still need the ability to create coaches, create just about every team jersey in history, edit goalie masks, edit players (within franchise mode), and edit team strategies (within franchise mode). For the last two, I don’t understand why EA would police the way people want to play the game they bought. It hurts literally no one.

Specifically for FM: need to be able to add expansion teams and realign divisions later than in the settings before the first year. If you add more than one expansion team, you should be able to have a head-to-head expansion draft.

I wonder how much of their “3 year plan” is set in stone already. Like they must already know if/when they are going to open up editing options, let us change strategies and fix all the broken pieces in the mode. The two biggest additions to franchise mode were introduced 4(coaching) and 5(scouting) years ago and still don’t work properly to this day, so I don’t have a ton of faith in what’s coming even though I am anticipating it.

We basically need to make 2 wish lists from now on. One that details exactly how to improve the features they have, and another that details what we want to be added.

I never thought about that, and honesty it kind of terrifies me lol. We still haven’t received a single word as to why they took away edit players from us. And they claimed last year that we couldn’t change strategies because “that’s the coaches job” yet we can set lines, ticket prices, morale meetings, etc etc which are not a GM’s job. In reality, they broke the coaches and strategies and didn’t know how to fix it so they just locked us out of it.

I just saw a post in the bug forum, about someone trying to edit a defensemen potential, and it only let them choose from FWD potentials, so potentially they broke that too and don’t know how/don’t care enough about offline modes to fix it?

Two of the BIGGEST asks the past years since they removed our abilities to edit players and strategies.. is to just give it back. They don’t even have to add new features, just unlock what’s already there.

Though you made a great point. Every feature they add just sits and rots and breaks everything else because they don’t implement it properly nor spend any time going back to rework it better.

I hold little hope for EA’s NHL franchise at this point. My friend group and I have passed on the past couple games because of how awful they are. Guess it’ll be another year of passing.

@kyl_35 Seconding the requests for editable coaches and goalie masks. Especially for the latter, it would be cool to be able to upload designs for other players to search for and download. Maybe filter by team (e.g. Canucks) and search by keyword (e.g. "flying skate").
