3v3 or Threes? Old gen or current? What matchmaking settings are you using?
Threes is becoming less popular
Current gen has finally surpassed old gen for population so it's advised to upgrade if you haven't already
The time you play and your region play a huge role in matchmaking - 5pm-9pm PST (8pm-12am EST) seems to be the best time to play
"Use best location" will give you better quality games but you'll have to match for longer to compensate
Playing without drop-ins will naturally take longer ( I Still can't believe they actually added the option in the first place)
- RelentlessJ692 years agoNew Veteran@TTZ_Dipsy I play 6's, in the morning I like to try and get a couple games in before work and can play one if I'm lucky, it takes forever to find a game, and thats on both the PS5 & PS4 versions.

6's, especially on weekday mornings, is probably the worst combo

You know when it was never a problem?
When we had lobbies.

current gen, and na it can't be less popular. In NHL 23 it worked super fast. It didn't take 5+ minutes to find a match, even on very non busy hours and days. something is very wrong with this matchmaking, it isn't just me noticing it

In NHL the selection of threes was super fast but the new version of EA sometimes sucks. It takes more than usual as compared to what is mentioned(3 minutes). And if internet becomes little bit unstable it goes off and starts again. What's this. Anybody else facing this issue?

Even on the most busy hours like you said, still 3+ minutes. lmao.

I got 4 near-instant games last night. What region are you in, are you using wired or wifi connection, and what player count parameters are you using?

Are you trying to find club games, drop-ins or club game with drop-ins added? I'm finding club games in seconds but the couple of times I tried to play a drop-in game it took several minutes.
- hollywood_cpm2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@TTZ_Dipsy This is broken logic. "Playing without drop-ins will naturally take longer". It should be faster because you're saying no I don't want to add another player to my game and should instantly start looking for opponents.

In theory, having a bunch of free agents ready to fill spots should make matchmaking much faster. If you're a two man team without a drop in option, you're sort of limiting the pool of available teams and need to hope there is an open team using pretty much the exact same settings you are.
That's all on paper though - NHL matchmaking has always seemed random

why did ea change the drop in lobbies on nhl and fc/fifa when NO ONE ..nobody asked for it?
it was a perfect system .. never any problems finding games and making new friends .. now it seems like you cant get games , literally in fc as its broken.. i havent added a new friend since the lobby change .. before that I had like 200 friends to play with online .. i lost everything when I made a new email and account thinking it would be th esame.
so no one wanted the lobby start up screen to change yet ea somehow made it worse for no reason at all .. other than to funnel you into the casino for the slot machines which is my opinion or else the drop in lobby would of been left alone or improved not made nearly unusable.
right now you cant even play clubs on FC .. and no word from EA yet except that they are "investigating"

Nothing is changed to funnel players into HUT. If we truly only wanted everyone to play that mode, it would be the only one available. We're not going to put work all the time and resources into other modes just to push people into HUT.
Lobbies changed in NHL to help avoid the constant trolling of the old system along with alleviating the race to position. How did the old system let you make friends better? Admittedly, I don't spend much time in drop-ins, but when I have, there are still some good players that I could reach out to and potentially find someone new to regularly run games with. What is the obstacle to this now that wasn't there previously?
Unfortunately, I don't have any details on the issues with drop-ins in FC.
