Thanks so much for the feedback. It's definitely going to take some getting used to for a lot of people. I too still prefer the skill stick, but the more time I spend with the total control setup, the better it gets. Not sure I'll really be converted though. Regardless, really glad to hear you're enjoying the changes!
Do you know if EA devs are looking at doing anything about the hit button when you’re crashing on offense for a rebound? For example I’ve seen many times where there’s a shot and a rebound and you try to shoot but the game uses the hit animation instead. Is there something else you have to press? It makes no sense that they would make the buttons the same..
a good solution would be to maybe disable that to happen so when there’s a rebound or loose puck your guy will always shoot it instead of taking an interference penalty.. the obvious intent is to shoot and NOT hit.
I am using skill stick but it’s not the same skill stick as nhl 23
I believe you guys that the gameplay is fantastic, but this is not enough to buy this game for me. Customization, presentation is not this what I await from a modern sport game. From year to year more worse or the same like the customization.
Best? Not even close. This game is so broken its not even funny. Gameplay is absolutely awful.
@Marvie03I as an franchise only player make every NHL gameplay playable with adjusting sliders. Online never intrested. The rest of the game compared to NHL 23 or earlier games isn't worth a penny cause every year lesser ( presentation ) or the same like customization. First to remove the hybrid stick, after to set this as high priority to get back. Is this joke good for laughing or crying? Same as removing the presentation from last years game and try than to give a part back. Funny to see when they start to remove the old goalie helmets, old generic face creation possibilities, all headshot pics and so on. Back to basics, back to the roots all players and teams should get standard things. Sarcasm off !!!

This is the first game in years where massive, fundamental changes to gameplay have been made.
There's no question you'll see an 'uptick' in negativity from people who demand the game remain the same so they can exploit the same things they've exploited for years. Strangely enough, they'll also insist this year's game is a 'cOpY & pAsTe'.
Yes, it's been a challenge to learn the new ways of doing things, understanding the underlying nuance, trying to interpret what the developers had in mind for the best use of any given mechanic... but that's a lot of the fun of a new NHL release. It's honestly a feeling this series hasn't had in over a decade, IMO.
People are used to just picking up the new NHL and continuing their dominance and or having old habits still get them through situations. That's changing and it's a good thing.

I love how the go-to rebuttal from people who are dissatisfied is "watch more hockey" or "you don't know hockey" etc etc
It's a videogame. It is always going to have elements mean to be fun.
People who enjoy this game aren't enjoying it because they don't know the sport as well as you. They're enjoying it for what it is : a virtual representation of a sport, created in such a way to be accessible and fun.
FUN is different for everyone, It's pretty naive to expect a company whose entire existence is based on making fun, accessible games, to make something that doesn't have elements of the game that cater to as many people as possible.
Am I a fan of the Fortnite celebrations? Of course not. Is the individualistic approach to World of Chel characters up my alley? No. I'm near 40 and I don't care very much about what my virtual avatar in a videogame looks and dances like.
But can I get together with 5 of my other buddies from across the continent and engage in a fun and sometimes challenging hockey experience? You're damn right I can.
