Re: Defense feedback

1st goal was brutal. That needs to be fixed.

2nd goal was fine

3rd goal was because you timed a crouch block terribly

Goal 4, you should've used a tie-up:

Goal 5, you should've swapped control to #2:

And then used DSS like so (or a tie up)

Goal #6 is the same. You're not taking control of the last-man back and rushing the puck carrier holding down the hit button:

Goal 7, you're caught on another odd man rush (which is the theme of your goals against) and simply stop skating:

Finally, goal 8 - you once again just stop skating:

Pass through the crease that any competent 12U goalie would've deflected with his stick. He took away the high-danger lane and forced a pass through the blue. Goalie needs to mkae this play.

    Goal 4, you should've used a tie-up:

No, the CPU defender should've sent the puck carrier into the corner with a hit like any competent 14 year-old D would've if someone actually tried to pullup mid-cut to the slot like this. Not to mention the 384 mph backhand pass after. Brutal on the eyes. This isnt hockey.

Goal 5, you should've swapped control to #2:

Yes to give him his best chance, but after earning a 2-on-1 the offensive guy should be in a position to score with good execution no matter what.

And then used DSS like so (or a tie up)

Goal #6 is the same. You're not taking control of the last-man back and rushing the puck carrier holding down the hit button:

The AI should be able to handle thier obvious mark here if the human properly pressures the puck like a real life hockey player does. This is a 3-on-3 and actually was a well played gap on the puck carrier in the screenshot you're wanting him to change players during. There is no "chase" here in the "first" screenshot as he's properly playing his mark. "Chasing" involves leaving your position/mark for a mark/area that is not yours. This is not "chasing" as hockey is not played by standing in spots covering nothing. IRL the CPU dman or goalies would've easily intercepted this pass and the player he's controlling would've been in a perfect position to either boxout his mark after a cover or start a breakout from the deflected pass.

The offensive player should not be rewarded with forcing a slot pass with even numbers. He should've used his small gap to continue around the net and establish the zone. That would've been a hockey play, forcing the pass because the AI cant make simply hockey plays is not hockey.

Goal 7, you're caught on another odd man rush (which is the theme of your goals against) and simply stop skating:

It's a bad rush, but again gliding here is a perfectly acceptable real life play. He's in the lane, why would he be pumping his feet into his goalie or anywhere else for that matter?

Finally, goal 8 - you once again just stop skating:

Again, all real hockey players would glide here as they are ahead of their mark and would ensure their eyes are even/not bouncing which increases reaction time. They also would not want to overcollapse into their own goalie. This game should be encouraging gliding as its an essential part of hockey, but NHL 23 and 24 have decided to nearly remove gliding which has resulted in having absolutey zero nuance or skill to skating.

@KidShowtime1867 I've asked you before but I don't think you answered so here goes again: how do you initiate DSS without poke-checking first like that? How does the timing work?

@KidShowtime1867 pinging you again for the defensive skill stick tip. How do you initiate it without first poke-checking (therefore mitigating the speed-loss effect)?

If you don't want to share that's fine but let me know!
