I think one of the biggest problems is that they have spread themselves too thin with too many different modes!
CHEL,HUT,3s,etc.etc.
Then you got these players that get all hyped up for these DUMB pack openings and bag openings!!!
It has NOTHING to do with the actual gameplay!
They need to concentrate and put 90% of their focus on the bread and butter of the game and that is,Franchise Mode,Overall gameplay,Overall fixing and Creation modes
I dont play online whatsoever so I dont care about that BUT I also dont like the idea of making it harder to score.
Theres alot that can be done to improve it and make it better from there!

100% there is way too many game modes....but to that point, I don't understand why we need to make the core game modes "accessible" for "casuals" when we have 3's eliminator, 3's in general, and offline "easy mode" settings with trainers and slider that should ultimately be able to be used by our "casual" community to satisfy their needs.
The core competitive default gameplay/gameloop should have a much higher burden of skill required to be successful as seen with all successful esports which is very obviously the direction this series is trying go towards, for better or for worse.
- NeonSkyline2112 months agoSeasoned Ace@7df81e6108e66429 You said they need to focus on the "bread and butter of the game" and then didn't mention online at all lol. Online IS the bread and butter of the game. It's what most of us play exclusively if I had to hazard a guess.
If I had my way I'd have them focus on getting basic 1v1 (1 human vs 1 human online) hockey to the best state it can be in and then branch out from there. Having smart/dynamic AI is key to improving this series.- 7df81e6108e6642911 months agoSeasoned Vanguard@NeonSkyline21 O.K,maybe I didnt articulate that correctly,BUT whta I was trying to impart is that this game started out like every other game,as in,...There was NO such thing as "online"!
Thats what I meant and when I think of the bread and butter example,im thinking the most basic thing or the original.
- phomi9912 months agoSeasoned Veteran@7df81e6108e66429 You got a guy who thinks their bread and butter is "offline modes" and thinks it should be easier to score then you got a guy who openly admits he doesn't watch hockey yet voices his opinion on what a hockey game should be?
You guys basically ruin this forums credibility in the eyes of the team with these kind of posts/comments.
Reddit seems to be a more accurate forum where posts actually make sense.- 12 months ago

- I bet you'd be surprised by the amount of offline players in sports games. Especially in games that are "simulation" offerings, the offline modes should 100% be the bread and butter of said games. Capturing the essence of the sport you're allegedly making a "simulation" offering of should be the primary goal.
- As far as "easier" scoring goes...uhh yeah, goalies in this game should be able to give up goals on realistically dangerous opportunities without needing to do one of the 2 approved patterns + aim spots for scoring. Having MORE ways to score means there's MORE of a skill gap on defense. The only community in this game with zero credibility right now is the portion of the community who gets to spearhead the direction this series while simultaneously complaining about how boring the game they just advocated for is not even halfway through the lifecycle of the game. We've seen the results from "harder" and "completely predictable" scoring...turns out its REALLY BORING. It's almost like it's not hockey since you don't need to even remotely cover the slot outside of 2 specific scenarios because your goalie will make some insane robotic limb reaction without even coughing up a rebound! Wow, so fun!
- On that note, NHL 23 and 24 have doubled-down on "accessibility" for all. Guess who that means? Not sweats who want to play 1-0 games of iso basketball! So no, there's no credibility lost here. The casual market has clearly been the target audience of this series since they decided that being able to superman fly in with your call of duty operator was an essential part of the 6s experience. Instead of telling casuals that they're not invited here, we should be openly embracing them and encouraging them to provide feeback that they too want to play something that kind of looks like the real life hockey they just watched on tv. They certainly didn't learn about this game from watching a 6s stream with the 4 other people tuning in. They saw NHL is in EA access and they probably just watched a playoff game and are wanting to scratch that hockey itch. That's exactly the angle we should be playing to, not turning away. Let's show that the casual "hockey fan" is coming to play hockey, not dress up as a navy seal while playing on a pond and dabbing within a "celly tunnel."
