It's not about that really. It's about the goaltending I think. The goalies are superhuman and can't be tuned with realistic shooting to be less than super human unless you boost shot power to unrealistic levels.
In my realistic slider set I have goalie save reaction speed to 0 and shot power to 90-95. It's kind of ridiculous.
