Re: NHL 24 Feedback

I actually disagree with all of this. I like the changes. It actually feels like hockey again. There are bugs that need to be fixed, but I haven’t experienced one “glitch goal” yet. In fact, I feel that the few losses my club has experienced were 100% our fault. We’ve dominated games and fought back from deficits and won by pulling together and playing solid hockey. Changes were made, we have to adapt, and when you do, this game actually shines.

@DEDLYGOD  And yet, there is indeed a new glitch goal already, I won't tell what it is here but it's sadly rather easy to find how already. Hope it get noticed by the team and patched.

Well if that is the case I hope it’s addressed but I haven’t really seen one yet. I know there are for sure ways to score on break always, but as for the old school load up a toe drag and rip it back across to the opposite shoulder glitch goals, haven’t seen them yet.

@DEDLYGOD While called glitch goals, these arent really glitch goals, more of how the goalie is programed to react to X, Y move/shots from the skaters and are being abused once known. The one I'm talking about is a shot that shouldnt be happening in the first place. :P
  • The biggest problem with the game is Ai generated momentum. The amount of times we’ve absolutely dominated a team just to be met with a Ai goaltender who saves EVERY shot even while under pressure with zero energy. Then, opposing team gets every puck in the back of the net with no effort, our goalie practically moves out of the way for them.

Pressure System and Ai players are all synced to EA’s exhaust engine that’s clearly unfinished and is ridiculously incapable of being consistent. The game decides who wins and who doesn’t.

Worst NHL game ever made bro trust me, you’ll see later on how bad it truly is.

  • Are u experiencing interference calls off of the face off of u switch your player immediately after losing a face off??? It’s absurd

The interference calls are a disgrace. Pass the puck away and get called before the puck even arrives on target. Because the reticle moved, you can’t even avoid it.

What was a good game has become unplayable because the designers tweak it every year. Each time for the worse.

I blame it on 30 year olds who were never told how dumb they are as kids. Now they think their product is good.  What’s worse is that they could make more money selling seasons than selling progressively crazier games. But they won’t because they can’t handle the criticism.

Again this is 100% accurate.  I'm so frustrated I can't play this pos.

  • Every single game I see all the glitch goals in hut champs and rivals. You must be joking

  • I agree on all fronts. The computer literally. Plays good for one team and * for another no matter what . It's infuriating how much the momentum swings by someone ragging the puck in the O zone while taking beer league shots and bouncing off of your user hits pokes and positioning like a god to be knocked off the puck by your own player or hit by them on the same type of play.

The Ai will ruin momentum for you on purpose taking penalties or not changing your player to the correct player or not changing it at all till it's too late.

They literally slow your players down on purpose leaving positioning and actual hockey plays * useless.

The team building players are OP as *. If they have Mario or gretz your team plays like shittttrt. I'm ready to sue these pieces of *.i have saved countless disgusting plays.

While I agree with some of the issues and bugs, I think this game is by far the best NHL game in the past few years. It actually feels like hockey to some extent. I do not like the reverse hit button...it's obvious that programmers for this game don't know what a reverse hit is. EA a reverse hit is a function of balance and possibly checking ability...i.e. this is not a "button" but a response to a reaction - user A tries to hit user B and based on the response of user B, a reverse hit is either performed or the hit of user A works on user B. Also the passing is atrocious, even with the directional buttons which I like. 1 Passing is 9/10 times based on a strategy you don't choose. Players will try to cycle in bad circumstances instead of creating space and getting the puck to the point or quarterback on the PP. I find my passes go to the other team more than they do my CPU teammates and that is with 100 in passing accuracy, passing assistance and 0 in interceptions by the CPU...how is this possible?

The NHL and the NHLPA should be embarrassed to be associated with this game. EA just makes the game worse year after year.

They need to start from scratch and design the game on the new consoles and for the pc community. The menu screens load times are like there still 2-3 console upgrades behind.

  • I seriously get furious because of exactly what you said. I thought maybe I was the only one so I had to start looking it up and I found this and found what you said. So I feel much better. I think I'm going to go get a refund and get something else cuz I am so furious like I almost destroyed my closet door and many other things because literally played for 6 hours the first night I got it and could not buy a win. Literally they won with 0.1 seconds. Left Puck hit the goalie went up in the air so high my goalie reset cuz there was no puck around it came down. Hit him in the back of the head and went in the net was 0.1 seconds left. Yeah, the game's not rigged you're playing against nine people. All the computer players are playing against you. Thank you for your post. I will definitely be getting a refund.

The direction of this game is an overall disappointment and has been for many years.  It seems the consumer wants the game to be realistic, but EA wants it to be arcade.  Making a game arcade is basically the "band-aid" for all the issues.  Why don't the defenders approach the incoming skater?  It's arcade.  How can a player skate through all the players and go right to the net?  It's arcade.  Adding "special skills" to a player is basically removing any simulation aspect.  The game should play to the player ratings, period.  That includes game speed.

As the game is now, the sliders and player ratings wash each other out.  The thought process behind designing it like that is mind boggling.  Player acceleration rating, player acceleration slider...shooting rating and shooting slider.  Raise one, it affect the other.  Also, each year it seems the sliders don't work they way they should.  EA, if you're going to keep this odd design choice, here is my suggestion:

Start all sliders at 0.  As you raise a slider, that is what affects the game/player.  If it's at 0, it plays to the player ratings.  Don't set the default sliders in the middle, it makes no sense because it means there is already an unwanted affect, thereby creating these odd player skills.

Remove the attribute effect slider, or again, start it at 0.  Let the player's rating dictate the player skill.

Presentation:  You have to bring it back.  Not sure the thought process to remove this as presentation makes/breaks a game.  Look at NFL2k5.  They had highlights from games around the league.  It created an immersive experience and that was done on an old video game system.  We have newer and better systems so there are no excuses. I'm seeing cinematics of player celebrations that aren't even selected for that player!  This kills the realism.

Gameplay wise.....the hitting is awful.  Why?  That hitting animation is ridiculous.  You can't dump the puck either.  When on position lock, your teammates get the puck, skate into the wall, then up the ice following a motion path.  Every game doesn't need to be won by 1 goal.  Let the player skills determine the outcome.  It feels like EA is trying to capture the excitement of one hockey game, and put it in every game you play.  Some games in real life are boring...some games are won by 5 goals.  I can count on one hand how many times I've won by more then 2 goals.  Also, remove the full "last minute" of play.  No one asked for that and it ruins the stats, because you're basically getting an additional 5 minutes of play.  This causes all those last minute goals, which makes the game feel so repetitive.

No all star game or outdoor stadium, even though in real life, they have played 40+ outdoor games.

No ability to play 3v3 tournament using full roster.  NHL Threes is a fixed small roster, unless I'm mistaken.

Franchise menu is clunky.  Options should be across the top of the screen for standings, stats, etc.  Easier navigation.

World of CHEL is useless for offline players.  You record stats for everything else, but offline CHEL.  I want to see how many goals player has scored in CHEL.  Also, the stats displayed above the player head is always wrong.

The game needs a revamp bad.
