Re: Protecting the puck while skating

I take that you are on Playstation. X, square, triangle and circle are now used for one-touch dekes if you use the new Total Control. Pressing X mean you're doing a one-handed tuck deke.

To protect the puck now you have to press and hold down L3 and use the right stick to protect the puck left or right.

Yes, it's terrible.

Thanks for the tip.  That's what I read about using the Left stick to protect the puck.  Makes it more difficult as I am use to the left stick moving the player.  Thanks again

It is tough and feels weird at first, but once you get used to it it’s not bad.

It's not particularly hard but weird for sure but for one, it's pretty bad for the stick itself to hold it down while moving it around. Next time your stick start drifting, don't question yourself on how it happened, it's right there. And secondly, my actual problem with it is on too many occasions it use protect puck instead of the skill stick when you go for a push around a player or near the net and thats pretty annoying.

  • X-box player here. The A button was for protecting the puck, for years. Suddenly, it's gone and old habits die hard, especially for a 60 year old man. At least give us the option to map the controls. I prefer NHL23 over this game that was $70. Can't get updated rosters for that. I've been a faithful user of this product since it's inception, played many different formats. PC, PS, and X-box. Each year is more disappointing than the previous year, yet I keep buying it. I guess one of these years I'll stop.
