Bump.

@EA_Aljo No problem.
The main reason I wanted to bump this post back to the top is to keep it fresh in the minds of the EA team that the community would love to see more options with control layouts, and better yet, full custom mapping. EA’s Star Wars Squadrons is a great example of this.
Aside from limiting skill stick dekes to the controller’s sticks (which is a principle that was abandoned anyway with the introduction of Total Contol), I cannot see any reason custom mapping isn’t allowed.
Imagine how much of a headache could’ve been alleviated for everyone if, as a skill stick user, you could simply move Push and Shoulder Checking to a face button instead of the skill stick. Say goodbye to the thousands of unwanted checks in the o-zone that lead to penalties because someone is trying to onetime or rebound with the skill stick (which are still happening by the way even though some adjustments were made). That problem works in reverse too: I am going for a push check with the skill stick but happen to take possession of the puck and send a shot down the ice on accident. This isn’t a skill issue, it’s a bad control layout issue.
The other reason I bumped this convo to the top again is to promote my control suggestions once more. I believe they are well thought out and should seriously be taken into consideration.

(If this has been mentioned forgive me for missing it.)
For anyone struggling with something specifically control related in the meantime (and using a dualshock/sense controller), you can go to settings > accessibility > controllers > custom button assignments, and remap problematic buttons.
I personally found myself accidentally doing the leg-kick by clicking R3. I swapped R3 with Right Arrow on the D-Pad and it solved my issue.
I've lost access to the leg-kick in practical application, but it's a welcome trade for how frequently I used it purposefully vs accidentally.
(Don't forget to use '->' when you actually need to use R3, or revert it back for other games.)

I have done the same thing. The biggest annoyance is that I now can't chop the puck. I'm going to see about remapping that though. Regardless, I understand the complaints with the controls and have reported this to the team. If changes are made, we'll make an announcement.

Just go back to the controls and gameplay from nhl 23 which was working. How hard can it be ? But it seems that EA wants things that doesnt works instead

I think if you allow players to me more technical with the controls, you can slow down the speed of gameplay to realistic speeds without dulling the experience.
Also, improving the BAP cameras would really bring these controls to life.
