--You’re right, it is just Skill Stick. I ended up agreeing with your position after really considering it. So rather than changing what was already good, I added the additional option of using P3 as Total Puck Control.--

Good decision and anyway there's always place for adjustment with the addition of the paddles, just like you did.

--Holding P1 would be both a way to remove accidental shots as well as adding more control to puck handling.

For example, pulling down on the Right Stick while holding P1 could pull the puck in close to your skates away from a poke without it being a full drag to the forehand or backhand, and from there you could push it out to your forehand or backhand if you want. Or, from the forehand, rolling up on the Right Stick while holding P1 could tease the puck out in front of the player on the on the forehand side, and could be pulled back by rolling the Right Stick back. Same thing goes for the backhand. (Remember, these are just a few random examples of what could be done with the extra space on the Skill Stick when shooting is removed.)--

Must admit, it's a great idea and could definitely bring in something new and fresh to the game, a touch of realism based on skills .Something to be considered for a future game. Love it!

--The extra Face Button P allows for the Face Buttons to directly correlate with the 5 positions on the team (besides goalie); this way each button is dedicated to its own position regardless of what position you are in control of. I understand that as the person controlling the puck, you only have 4 options to pass to, but having dedicated buttons for each position would provide consistency to Icon Passing; you will always know pressing Y will pass to your Right Wing (for example) which means you don’t have to hold RT (like you do now) to figure out which player has which button. And furthermore, since each position’s ‘player indicator’ currently has it’s own dedicated color, those colors could correlate with the colors of the Face Buttons to make it even easier to use Icon Passing… you would never need to actually see A, B, X, Y, or P on the screen (unless maybe if you want to turn it on in settings).

If you’re locked into a position like in World of Chel, then you just have an unused Face Button [no biggie, or it could be used as Drop Pass (see below)], but if you’re playing as the entire team like in Online Versus, then you would be using every Face Button.--

I still beleive it would bring in more confusion though. As you say, Y would be connected to RD. But what if the RD switch position with LD or RW? is he still Y on the face button or switch to a different face button? What if the RD pinch between the ears, do he become P or still remain Y?

As of now I beleive the face button are dedicated to a position (zone) not on the player. More like top left , top right, bottom left and bottom right...more or so. If the LW found himself all the way back to the blue line right side (in offensive zone) it's icon become Y. This avoid confusion when players on the ice start circling all around the zone.

I wish I could make up diagrams like you to explain my point to make it clear. That or I'm completely missing your point lol. But hey, you know what, this could definitely be an option though. Icon dedicated to a zone OR dedicated to players. Up to each individual to choose what they prefer.

If the Icon Face Buttons were used for Icon Passing the way I suggest, then none would be available for Brace/Reverse Hit. I think just holding P3 (the Protect Puck paddle) could work as bracing yourself for impact. That’s essentially what protecting the puck means anyway. And double tapping P3 could be a reverse hit.--

You're not wrong, reverse hit barely ever happens, but it does nonetheless. I have nothing against reverse hit as long as it's fine tuned and binded to specific attribut like strenght, heigh, weight, balance, body checking...only an handful of build should be using it as intended.

Brace for hit sound like a much better tool and realistic though, i'm giving you that. Love the idea but they would also need to be based on attributs.
Giving 2 abilities to counter hits could potentially make puck carrier invincible against hits though and could be abused so it have to be handled perfectly before getting introduced. Ideally just one or the other should be used, the attack already have tons of tools to work against defenders. I would personnaly vote for Brace for hits 😉

In addition to the original option, I guess we could use the Face Button that is dedicated to the position that you control as a Drop Pass. For example, if you are Left Defense, all you would have to do is tap A to Drop Pass / Leave Puck… or you could still do it the way it is now.--

Extra button such as paddles or third row of bumpers/triggers could get the game to next level and solves issues plaguing the game right now such as protect puck binded to hustle on L3 and reverse hit on R3. Opening the door to so much customization.

Keep up the good work! I beleive some of your idea deserve to be noticed. There's only one problem left though, standard controllers don't have the extra buttons yet so we're pretty much screwed up with what we have now.
