Hip checks are broken. Everything bad said about them in the other thread is reiterated in this video. There's no defending it.

@JammalammalamOn one hand I'm in total agreement and have said hip checks are too OP. On the other hand every other defensive tool is bad/ inconsistent. I want hip checks fixed.. but only if other tools get a boost. If other tools like pokes were even JUST consistent I think we would see less hip checks. Not far less because it is broken but it's just OP AND consistent. You know 100% if you make contact even with 0 momentum you're taking them down. Poke checks, even in a perfect spot with a zone x factor and 90 poke/ defensive awareness you could miss the puck, hit it but it just stops it, hit it and they just regain possession, hit it and when your stick comes back you inadvertently trip them, poke from the side and the stick seems to go where the puck was when you initiated the poke so it hits their skates and trips, dislodge it and have it go DIRECTLY to the next offensive player and the goalie has 0 awareness of the incoming threat and gives up a bad goal.. it's just such a bad tool. I agree hip checks need balanced but without other things getting a balance it's almost needed for defensemen. Hockey gods forbid we end up in the EA created full pressure system and have speed and all attributes reduced.. at that point you just get in front of the goalie and hold L1 hoping you block their shots because you can't keep pace. Apart from that hit the hip check and hope they brush up against you by accident and your player just throws them to the ice haha. Wild physics system.. then the goalies Flopping like a fish.. this game is looking less and less like NHL I see on TV.. at least they nerfed LT..
