Simple Question

Can someone please explain the reasoning behind the 5% Auction House Tax. For one. It's a one sided tax that only applies to sellers. And secondly. What does EA actually gain by this tax. Personally. I have over the course of years bought numerous players, at certain amounts. However, when I did decide to sell them, their value had decreased from my original purchase price, and I was levied with this 5% tax. Double loss! And since no actual monetary value trades hands between EA and the community. The tax is somewhat absurd! It's bad enough purchasing overpriced packs that are untradeable, let alone being burdened with a cost to trade cards.

  • @dogheels It's to help control inflation. It's done in MMORPGs too. Some games would sell premium memberships that bypassed it. When selling stuff for 100k+ it starts to add up.
  • Ah, reminds me of the pre-Grand Stock Exchange days of Runescape when you could sell some shlub a plank of wood for as much money as your uber rare Blue Party Hat if you wanted to...

It started with a small tax but was eventually axed to make way for what I hope EA ends up doing: a centralized purchase system where you could only offer within set parameters - You could offer to sell/buy now at a designated middleground or, if you were feeling spicy, could try your hand at +-15% (give or take). This would either increase or decrease the median price at a moments notice so you'd get a true sense of worth and people couldn't get scammed or really cheat the system with backdoor deals.

Packs could open back up to being tradeable and, one would at least assume, cheaper.
