For the 7-1 win, I've downgraded my team to 82 instead of 87 as a test. So no, the team and player ratings don't matter.

I partially agree with this. In my experience the main thing happening here is that the AI goalie...with no bearing on OVR whatsoever, just randomly goes into Uber God mode every few games. To me, this is where the OVR team rating becomes inconsequential..you may score 7 in 30 shots against an 88 OVR, and next game get 2 in 55 shots against a 68. Same shot quality om average, just the AI deciding that the Goalie is gonna pwn you that game. Just my take, and obviously gets worse the higher the skill level you play on..i do allstar bc the splatter checking and constabt uncalled blatant interference gets incredibly frustrating at the top level.
