Time to open it up!

I think it's time to open WoC all the way up and make it feel fresh and fun. It's time to change up the way a WoC player is built. No more restriction based upon a preset player type eg. playmaker, sniper, two way defenseman. The user should select a position, and be given a base player based on that positions. C has higher faceoffs, D has more defensive awareness and stick check, etc. Then let them set a height and weight, which will effect base attributes. Taller and heavier would be slower and stronger etc. Next allow a player to adjust stats up and down by 5 points, as it works now. Finally allow a player to choose any X-factor ability and two superstar abilities with attribute qualifications. Once the build is complete the game should assign the player type tag to what the user has created. Hitting sniper, Net Front Specialist, Lockdown Defenseman, Shutdown Center etc,. and maybe provide and NHL comparable to what has been created. Some of the abilities would need to be adjusted to combat metas but I think this would really open the gameplay and make it feel fun and fresh. Overall, I think the players should be better too. Give all player more points to work with and make higher quality players. 

Things I've considered but haven't thought all the way through are;

-Needing qualifying attributes for Xfactor abilities.

-When height and weight is reduced to gain skating, also reduce shot power to curve the meta away from this 160lb mess.

-Adding two bronze level abilities. This would provide even more build diversity.

-Remove elite edges or build it into all players. This ability feels mandatory at high level play and restricts build diversity.

-Make height and weight have more increments on attribute change for a more fine tuned approach to athleticism.

-Allow greater adjustment range than 5 per attribute.
