I can't agree the game is unplayable for the older generation. Which, I am a part of. I too have been playing since the 90s and spent many years with the NHL 94 controls, but made the change to skill stick when it was first introduced. I know it's a big change. When you get it down though, you have a lot more in your arsenal as your gameplay options really open up. I understand they aren't for everyone, but these controls have been in the game since NHL 07. There really has been a very long time to get familiar with them. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about those that have mobility issues with their hands. That is obviously a different issue and I absolutely feel bad if your only option was to use the NHL 94 controls.
Congrats, EA. You've been taking away things that make the game fun and adding things I don't care about for years, but now you've finally made it unplayable. I've somehow rationalized paying full price year after year, but now that I literally cannot play the game, I don't have to worry about that anymore.

I 100% agree. The controlls have been there for 29 years now just like that gone. So much for the casual player.
- Blacksunshine932 years agoNew Scout@c6c8d211dfe226d7 hybrid is coming back and hybrid is also NHL94 control just with a few more advanced options thrown in that you don't even need to use. It makes for the best control mapping in this game.
I get the people who love Skill Stick, but for my hands it's hybrid or bust.
Just got to be patient and all will be better.
Also the new management under the NHL franchise seems to want to bring meaningful change to the games from 25 onward. Yes I am holding my breath, but I do hope they follow through on the stuff they talked about.
