Outside of those with disabilities, I really don't understand why people have used NHL 94 controls. You're limiting yourself and instantly at a disadvantage versus someone adept at skill stick/total control.

You do realize that not everyone plays online, right? Some of us just want to play a game or two after a hard day's work, score a dozen or so goals against the Maple Leafs, and have a little fun. I really don't care to learn how to make my player do lacrosse goals or pass between the legs using a combination of triggers, bumpers, and sticks better suited for a Tekken tournament.
