I can't agree the game is unplayable for the older generation. Which, I am a part of. I too have been playing since the 90s and spent many years with the NHL 94 controls, but made the change to skill stick when it was first introduced. I know it's a big change. When you get it down though, you have a lot more in your arsenal as your gameplay options really open up. I understand they aren't for everyone, but these controls have been in the game since NHL 07. There really has been a very long time to get familiar with them. Just to be clear, I'm not talking about those that have mobility issues with their hands. That is obviously a different issue and I absolutely feel bad if your only option was to use the NHL 94 controls.
This is SO disappointing!! I am not able to play without 94 control so now I wasted a lot of money for nothing. Very big mistake from you and a classic mistake do to, changing something without really thinking!

Severely disappointed to find out there isn’t a tutorial in the game, so apparently someone who is new to the sport is just supposed to figure it out through trial and error? Speaking from experience that is not fun at all.
While doing some research I found a Reddit thread for 23 where people suggested using NHL 94 controls, and now I find out they’ve been removed from the game as well, so now I’ve wasted money on a game I likely won’t play.

@dubplate79 Just wait for the Hybrid controls to return in a week or two. It's 94 controls with some skill stick abilities. gives you a good graps on the basics and give you the ability to tinker with the skill stick side of it with the ability to fall back on easier controls if you get stuck.
What console did you buy it for?- dubplate792 years agoSeasoned Novice@Blacksunshine93 PS5
