Forum Discussion
Aljo,
Your title is the "community manager" yet you are just blowing off the community who are asking why. Your responses have just basically been "too bad, get used to it" instead of even one reason why the '94 controls are no longer available.
Was EA too concerned with cost? I'm sure the people who paid $130+ for a game they loved would have paid an extra few dollars for something that has been with the game for 30 years. If EA had never offered to keep those controls and forced people to learn the new controls every year, you wouldn't have this issue. But the option has been there for every game because they were controls that made sense and everyone could play them. Your response of "they've had since '07 to learn the new controls" is your poor and bias response as you also stated you made the switch over as soon as it was available. But that's also false, because EA has added new features and new controls every year that you and many others have slowly adapted into your game play. Obviously by the pages and pages of complaints just on your website, nevermind other social media platforms, a lot of other people didn't. People who have used the '94 controls since they've learned to play are now, without warning, being shown they can't play the game anymore and EA doesn't care.
How about storage space? Were the codes for simpler game play taking up too much space? Maybe it would've pushed it over 45GB and couldn't have that. Perhaps the 8 pages of controls to learn could have been skimmed down to make room? Or perhaps you want your market to only be highly skilled gamer kids that play 80+ hours a week to be playing? Why don't you just want people to enjoy the game and those that WANT the additional controls to use or download those? Your game offers such a wide variety of configurations and customizations but this simple and timeless feature was too much?
Maybe this was just a boardroom vote? Most of you within EA probably use skill stick controls and don't like that people using the '94 controls can keep up and even beat you online. Personally, the only reason I pay to use online gaming is for this game. As one of the other commenters said, "to score some goals and blow off steam after a long work day" but that's not the community you want to be pandering to anymore. 90's kids and older are out of your purview of target market.
You probably didn't even read the majority of it, skimmed it maybe? You'e taken away accessibility and we'd just like a real why for the community, Community Manager Aljo, and if you don't know, find out.
Please also provide a refund link, give an option to those who are willing or not to learn or return the product they may not be able to use anymore.
Absolute garbage that I just dropped $100 on this game! I have no interest in learning the skill stick theme and have always enjoyed the old school 94 controller setting. Not having this as an option has ruined a game I was looking forward to playing. I also, like many others who have commented can’t be bothered playing online as that has never been the reason I buy this game on a yearly basis. I usually make a team and play franchise or season mode offline. Bring back the 94 control scheme for those that have committed to this game for years and judging by the comments in this thread is something the community wants. EA claims to listen to its community so hopefully you have heard us loud and clear on this point! So disappointed!
