What do I do in terms of changing offline AI?

Here is the clip in question-

https://x.com/boredjason/status/1747373617908797833?s=46&t=VDcTiKkgVNHIhpeMzhe1jg

So the offensive line strategy that I have set before the game are Overload, carry/dump are halfway, cycle shoot are halfway, efficiency/energy is halfway, don’t block/block is all the way to block. D pairing strategy is hold line/pinch all the way on hold line, cycle/shoot all the way to shoot. Team strategy is forecheck 2-3, neutral zone 1-2-2 red, trap/forecheck all the way to forecheck, d pressure normal, d strategy collapsing, offensive pressure standard, control breakout strong side slant, and stay wide.

Now that we have the sliders out in the open, why is it in a game I’m losing does the center immediately try and go back towards the defenseman that gets the puck instead of going up ice? After reacquiring the puck, the center doesn’t try and move up the ice. Thankfully the RW is open and I can get the puck to them. The next question is why is the LW stopping on the breakout? Especially at the red line. Like why??? Wouldn’t the AI understand to go UP the ice when you have the puck?? Why are they constantly thinking defense while you have possession of the puck?? Please someone especially a developer explain what to change to get the AI to actually play hockey

Here’s a couple more clips of WTF do I do

    https://x.com/boredjason/status/1747380922406629541?s=46&t=VDcTiKkgVNHIhpeMzhe1jg

Why in the first clip does the D player that comes onto the ice, beeline straight to the net instead of staying up on the line? I understand the center coming up to the line, but as soon as the defender turns shouldn’t the center go the line of what the AI does with the D??

Second clip in tweet, on FULL PRESSURE, why on a loose puck does the player CLOSEST to the puck skate away?? And in turn it took me three tries of changing players to get to this D player. The defenseman can clearly get to the puck before anyone but why is he going back on defense at full pressure?? Please make it make sense

You know what, forget it. I’m tired of this game. The second I send that I give up a goal because a problem that’s been around since the early days of NHL of hitting the swap player button being the same as pass and the player just giving away the puck when you have no intention of doing so is so baffling to me. I’m tired of playing a game where my goalie has a goals against average of under 1.7 and yet one goalie has a save percentage of .910 and the other is .875. This is so *** **** aggravating. This is the last game I play in 24. Couldn’t even make it through January of season 2 of franchise mode before I give up. I JUST WANT TO PLAY A HOCKEY GAME. This isn’t it and it hasn’t been it in awhile. Thanks EA for ending the love I have for this franchise

Glad I’ve come back a week later, after hearing about a patch, to find that this has zero responses. Haha I’m sure this isn’t fixed or even fixable. Lovely game. I’m going back to MLB and hopefully EA fixes the NHL series for the better in 25. You know, better AI play, a better defensive game, goalies stop saving chances they have no business saving only to let up beach ball goals, a better version of franchise mode where we can control our line strategies and not have to change it before every game, quicker menus, and of course A FULL BROADCAST. How MLB has 3 different options for you with the same two announcers is nuts. NBA having multiple announcers for things all while having 2K graphics is amazing. Please EA get out of your own way and fix 25. You’re losing your community RAPIDLY

Before I comment, I want to preface this by saying I'm not 'defending' this game nor am I insisting it's perfect in every single way. My explanations are my own dumb thoughts and I could be right and I could be wrong. I'm just going to explain things as I see them in an effort to maybe get to the bottom of your clips.

I think you're right; the logic here appears to be that there's already 3 high with one of the 3 being the centre who has possession:

This reason, combined with the fact that the puck carrying centre is actually beelining right for the LD's position - leads me to think the logic is that the LD has an open lane to the abandoned net-front (which would normally be occupied by the Centre)

This may have to do with your current defensive pairing strategy, this could be by design and intended behaviour under normal circumstances, or a combination of the two.

On a scale of 1-10, this provides many variances in how that scenario would play out.

Based on your clip, I'd guess Hold Line / Pinch is closer to 10 than it is to 0, which would mean they're encouraged to jump up. You'll need to play with this setting to get it to a spot that fits your play style.

It doesn't make sense at all. Looks like a flaw in the positioning logic when the puck is knocked loose. I wouldn't be surprised if this is somehow by design and you've exposed a critical flaw in the atrocious pressure system. Definitely a problem that should be looked at.

The pressure system should be eliminated.  Making a player that exhausted in such little time is ridiculous.  It makes the players looks like they were up all night partying.  In real life, players will get tired, but not depleted.  They are professionals athletes for a reason.

Also, as far as the AI, it's been horrible for years.  EA is more focused on the flash of the game and adding more jerseys than fixing major issues such as the AI.  The center will come to the blue line a lot regardless of the strategies.  The LD, if position locked on RD, still likes to hang out on the RD side.  When you're in your own zone, and your defender gets the puck, they do a b-line straight towards the boards, then they go up ice.  It's as if there is a motion path programmed for them to follow.  I posted about this years ago and it's still an issue.

I didn't purchase last years version because I kept hearing such negative.  I took a chance this year and regret it.  The game has become pure arcade (where to begin!), so I don't expect many AI changes anymore unless it's done by a different company.

@KidShowtime1867 Thank you for trying to figure it out and help out. Unfortunately I stopped playing 24 since my last post in this thread. With your explanation of the hold line/ pinch I had that bar fully on 0 not 10. Really to try and force the D to not leave the blue line when puck was in the corner because if I had it on the lowest setting that’s not zero, the AI D partners felt like they had free reign to skate wherever the hell they wanted haha
