Why I don't like NHL 24
These are all from the same game but my issue is that this is every game I play. These are just the goals let alone the myriad of other issues I have with the game. https://youtu.be/8HG8j0Q2j_U?si=x...

Human controlling Boston is frantically missing hits

This results in a 2-on-1 that is dangerously close to the net. Rather than engage either the puck carrier or the intended receiver, the human decides to LB at the worst possible time; negating any change of Def. Awareness & Hand-eye attributes to kick-in and intercept:

A missed hit by ANA #21 cause a pileup in the middle. ANA #24 looks to be controlled by the human as there's a number of successive poke checks (spamming them). This spamming causes their player model to interfere with the goalie and the puck takes a bounce off the player into the net. Lots of human error here that could've prevented the puck from getting this close.

I would bet good money that prior to when your clip starts, a human is controlling Tanev or Morrisey. Both are wildly out of position and when the clip begins, Tanev misses a wildly thrown hit that a.i. don't throw behind the net. Because the human brought both d-men below the goal line, Mitch Marner had to cover the front.

Mitch Marner will not have the defensive awareness attribute high enough to react to a pass being made within 2 feet of him. The slowed down replay you provided is a little misleading in terms of how much time he had to react but in real-time, a forward playing defense will not have the reaction time necessary to disrupt a play like this. Again, human error resulted in this.

#77 is being controlled by a human. You can tell by the way they go for the hit after the pass. A.i. don't do that. This opens up the 2-on-1. When you're playing a mode like HUT with players like Lemieux and Gretzky, you're allowed to force passes. It's an arcade mode with over the top gameplay.
@llamaverox wrote:1:09 5th goal. Guy rags it outside, my ai defensemen let's him walk meaning me as the winger has to come down don't get a poke on it, but goalie literally juts out of the way giving him a diving penalty goal.
He doesn't let him walk. You come down with your forward and he abandons coverage:

The reason he was able to get close to the net was because you were skating backwards when you should've been skating forward with DSS engaged to angle him away from the goal

@llamaverox wrote:1:23 6th goal. Trying to play defense and keep him to the outside. Holds off stick which is cool, however when I do get a poke on it the loose puck coming across the middle is completely ignored by two other dmen and the goalie losing the puck because it's sliding juts to the left giving him a wide open shot.
They don't ignore it. They're not close enough in proximity to the loose puck in order to trigger a pickup animation, but the Boston player was:

The a.i. is able to determine whether or not they would be able to get to loose puck in enough time to either retain possession or interfere with the expected recipient before they're able to execute an action after obtaining the puck. Your dmen knew they wouldn't be able to do either and simply retained defensive positions. You did great by keeping him outside and there's a tiny window in which you should've executed a shove which would've disrupted the play:

@llamaverox wrote:1:55 7th goal. Guy gets burned misses a hit, his Hedman is standing in the passing lane looking at the puck goes right through for a one t cross crease.
That sucks that the ai was unable to react quickly to that pass. In this situation, I'd be in control of Hedman and engaging the potential recipient.
I'm not going to break it down like Showtime did a fantastic job of. But yes you are right in that real hockey, the plays would not unfold like they do. That said they only unfold the way they did because of the way the user influenced the decision making of the other players. You say they don't give the ability to cover plays when you make mistakes that are minor. These are NOT minor mistakes, these are major ones. Here's my shortened breakdown though:
The first: Two missed body checks in a row on a rush lead to a 2v1 and then you failed to play the passer or the shooter. Instead you tried to LB which is more meant for shot blocking. That first goal was 3 mistakes.
The second: The player is facing and poking away from their momentum at their goaltender.
The third: The user has two guys below the boards to play one player with one coming from behind the other side of the net to body check. along with the fact that the cross crease goes through because the user is trying to DSS instead of stand on top of the shooter to deny their chance of picking up the puck.
The fourth: Hedman disregards man to man coverage to hit Gretzky and 2v1 him, Leaves Lemieux open and now mixes the Defense up. Gretzky to Lemieux and back make a nice give and go for the finish.
The fifth: Just a good play by the winger to attack the slot when the opening was there and get a good chance.
The sixth: Defense fails to protect the middle again and gets burned for it... sure they lose the puck but they get it back in the high slot danger area where you should not let anyone shoot.
The seventh: Again the defense needs to be on top of the shooter and not sitting in the middle to block the pass. This is not the old games, you can't just stand in the middle of the lane and stop everything. You have to be right on top of the skater to lower the chance of them picking up the puck and shooting it.
Again these are not minor mistakes, these are major ones that will absolutely lead to good chances, and good players will take those good chances and capitalize on them. The big thing I want to reiterate out of it all is just stop playing it like its older gen games, you need to be 80-100% on the shooter side of the cross crease or you will not intercept it. Standing in the middle is not a strategy anymore.
@hiperayand I completely disagree that is the correct direction that the game should of taken. It makes for a frustrating game that makes one more angry than satisfied to play.
I'm also the ducks not the Bruins.
Before I make my counter statement can you explain what you think the direction of the game should be? Are you saying that making these mistakes shouldn't lead to goals being scored because it is only one small mistake?
