If memory serves me correctly, custom cameras used to be an option. I believe it was when the PS4 and Xbox One came out that they became extinct. I think you could save up to five different camera views.
On a slightly different subject, I also remember you could design and save custom plays. This was particularly helpful on special teams (pp/pk) because you weren't forced/limited to use the same old plays over and over (Umbrella, Overload, 1-3-1, Diamond, etc...)
Not sure why they got rid of either of those options...

Also, just to clarify, what I’m asking for is a single camera that follows your player and adjust its angle dynamically according to area & direction of play in a way that brings you closer to the ice but doesn’t leave any serious blind spots on the action.
I think everyone understands that, but just wanted to be clear.

Yes, I completely get your new camera and I DIG IT ! 😀 I would even zoom in way closer. In real life you have blind spots also.
I was just asking that when PL just adding the BAP camera, low, high and fixed as an option also since they are already in the game. I guess that option would be way easier for EA to implement as a temporary solution.
The Cameras in the game needs to be worked on and also the replay system. We are on NEXT GEN here, these two areas are lacking IMO.

I feel silly for putting so much time into this post because I just noticed that there are already options for cameras similar to what I’m looking for. They just don’t show up in every game mode’s setting menu.
Still, having tried these out today, and I still think they could use some improvement.
For example, in Low, I would prefer to stay close to my player almost all the time. But for some reason the camera only swings in close when I have the puck.

For real. I believe both items were removed during the switch to next-gen for NHL15. The fact that neither of them have been re-branded as 'all new features' in a new release makes me wonder if the team is aware that these features even existed.
