I think it's funny that some people are saying that a hockey sim game could be made by another developer but just isn't. This is so far away from the truth. It is possible, however, in order to make a hockey sim game on any platform with enough support globally there would have to be NHL teams and players. Therefore, there would have to be a licensing agreement with the NHL/NHLPA, which is possible, however that would be stepping on EA's toes. The NHL is not going to risk their partnership with EA falling through because of this. OOTP Developments make Franchise Hockey Manager which is licensed by the NHL, but covers a niche in hockey games that is often overlooked (especially by EA in Franchise mode.) Maybe when the NHL isn't ran by ancient artifacts we will see some improvement.
