Arcade mode? Really? What a waste of developer time

Who in senior mgmt thought this would be a good way to spend development dollars? What's the engagement time on that? It would be fine to waste money and time on garbage like this, if the ACTUAL game...

My issue with arcade mode , is that again EA ignores the offline players.  Any of these extra game modes should apply to offline as well.  Look at Chel,/Threes and there are more game modes only accessible to online players.  Heck, they don't even keep your offline stats for Chel or Threes.
