Okay, in search of a solution for this confusing control or even a “classic mode”, I have now ended up here.
To give a brief explanation... a few days ago, a PS5 was set up here for sports games – and I recently beat, scored, celebrated and bit into the controller with NHL 2005 with countless seasons and a lot of fun and sore fingers... albeit on the PC. Then there was no longer any NHL for the PC. :/
Now, I thought, it's time for the heroic return to the ice. I only lost, not won a single bully, but at least got the puck into the goal with a few controls.
I'm not in the game for “operating 70 buttons variably to get the last effect out of ice hockey” - I'm here for the fun. But I'm not having any fun right now... because it's way too complicated. What's wrong with a “classic mode” for the controller? A mapping of the controller and the omission of features that I don't need for my living room offline tournaments with friends.
FC24 also has a “classic mode”... so why not in ice hockey, too?
