I was talking to my guys about this the other night. We were playing a team that kept reverse hitting us which I love to do and I told them to run at the guy and instead of hitting him let him hit you so he gets a penalty like last year. But nope the guy just crushed us over and over and all we can do is do our best to try and poke check.
Yup, there's one guy I've run into who's pretty decent at the game who abuses this given the opportunity. He runs an enforcer with gold back at ya and if you're just cruising through the neutral zone more than a few steps behind him, not really a threat, he'll just hit the brakes turn towards you and reverse hit you to take you out of the play. The only option is to either reaction hip check (which still doesn't even knock him over more often than not) or keep your distance and hope you can get a poke to connect from max range. Stick lifting isn't really an option either, it generally requires you to get close enough for him to be able to reverse hit, and hitting obviously isn't going to happen against a guy that big. Seems a little broken, and I'm kind of tempted to try a build built specifically for reverse hitting against some not so good teams tonight/tomorrow just to get some footage to upload and prove how broken it is.
