FIX PLAYER FATIGUE!!!

My goodness, NHL players are highly conditioned athletes, don't drain them 8 seconds into a shift!! And also, if you're going to fatigue them so fast you have to realize that NHL players are good to go again at full energy after about a minute on the bench. It's completely unrealistic for all 4 lines to be 75% gassed at the same time!!! It's impossible for NHL players to come off the ice, have three full line changes that created three other lines drop to 25% energy and the 1st line still only be 50% recovered!!! They would be 100% ready after a minute on the bench. Also, it would help if my players actually changed when I called a line change!!! If I'm pinned in my end and call a line change they often bee line for the bench, but if I try when the puck is heading up the ice on offense(when you should be changing) they refuse to go off the ice!!! I literally skate them to the bench, change players and they don't go off!!!!

Call this an unpopular opinion, but I primarily play world of chel 3v3, and I don’t mind the change at all. It adds some accountability for you to play smarter, and makes you pick and choose your spots more for using speed bursts, rather than being able to just use it constantly. If someone makes a mistake that causes them to be out of position, they shouldn’t be able to just unrealistically speed burst their way back into the play like nothing happened. It’s really not an issue at all if used more in opportune spots, rather than trying to use it every time you move.

The issue is that the stamina doesn't work well for online play but playing offline (franchise) it does have some realism to it, whereas if you roll 4 lines, not push the stamina all the way to red for any line, utilize dumping the puck and goalie stoppages, the stamina isn't really an issue (at least from my experience after about 55 games or so). It does have some risk to it, where if you keep a line out longer then you should and get their stamina in the red or take too many penalties and burn the stamina of your penalty killers, it can cause more issues overall but that is also how it is in hockey. Stamina for a player is a constant drop and would be tired by the end of the period. I always have one line full or almost full, one at 75%, one at 25% and one less or the same depending on the shift. This games requires more of a balance then 24 did where it was an arcade experience and pushed the speed and stamina well above what a hockey player would have.

At no time in real life would it be possible for all 4 NHL lines to be drained to 25%. For three lines to do that simultaneously then the 4th line should absolutely be back to 100%, regardless how drained they were prior to those three lines going out. That is an issue. Also, as far as changing lines more often…. That would be great if players actually changed when you told them to!! Also, your comment about players not getting to 100% stamina IRL until the intermission…. That’s ridiculous.

  • For starters there is and has been an issue with line changes that goes back to at minimum last year and maybe longer. Sometimes your team won't change unless you switch to a new line other than what you originally selected and that usually fixes it but sometimes you are at the mercy of poor programming. Outside of that - players in the NHL are considered to be have been on the ice too long if they have been out there for over a minute and extremely fatigued for anything over 1:30 seconds. In a real life NHL game the most elite forwards will at best log 15-17 minutes of ice time per game throughout the year which is roughly 25% of the game. In means they hit the ice for a minute, hop off for 3 minutes and hop back on.

Take a look at the NHL games and when they show players sitting on the bench after a pretty normal 45 second shift, they are absolutely tired. They will never be back to 100% energy until after the 1st and maybe 2nd intermission depending on their conditioning. Now it would be impossible to duplicate the stamina drain in a video game because most people don't want to sit through a full 60+ minute game each time but they are actually doing a great job making sure you have to use your lines wisely. It's not fun nor realistic if you can use only your first two lines for 80% of the game.

  • What game mode are we talking about here? Because the stamina is working good in franchise mode. First line usually play around 20 min and defense 25 min just like in real life.

I think the issue is that playing online and playing offline is 2 different experiences or playstyles. With how the stamina and speed is set up as more simulation compared to arcade. So in a sense you have a rush or 2 at most and then dump the puck for a change or use goalie stoppages to change lines (following this there is no real issue with stamina).  The stamina will stagger out across them and always leave you with one full or almost full line (forward and defense) to use with the others staggered from 50% or so, 25% and one less (all depending on how long the players are on the ice for).

The real issue from my experience online is most don't play a more traditional style/experience of hockey and is more fast paced + less stoppages. This is where the issue lies cause prior games like 23 and 24 were catered more to the arcade style where stamina and speed were OP compared to real life, where you didn't need to hold the puck on a goalie save and just throw it out and keep playing due the higher stamina. You could also use the speed burst almost constantly and blow by defenders due to this, with little affect on stamina.

It's hard to find a balance between the 2 as its style of game differs to drastically from online to offline - its hard to almost impossible to find a good balance.

Sadly, NHL 24 and 23 stamina and speed was OP due to it being based around more of a fast paced arcade experience that worked well for online play (3v3, 6v6, CHEL).

If you play offline and play a more simulated experience which I feel this game feels more like, then stamina or speed isn't an issue - if you look at shifts in the NHL they are on average 40 seconds to a minute in length max. If the players are kept out longer they are slower, tired and are more acceptable to making a mistake, which I know from my personal experience (85 games in a franchise more) that this is true as well. I can't count how many times I get caught out with a tired line or decide to go for a rush instead of dumping the punk for a change and it ended up coming back into my zone - leading to a high risk scoring chance or goal.

This game requires you to manage stamina more like  you would have to in a real game of hockey. The issue with this is that it is not ideal for the online modes that are based solely on using one player the whole time - this I feel is where the issue is.

I can see the differing opinions but to myself who plays a fairly realistic experience offline it works fine and the closest we have had to a simulated experience with stamina and speed since maybe NHL 20 or 21.
