Yeah, it wasn't even like that in 24 either as far as I can recall. When you left the zone the pressure meter would drop at a quick rate of speed. I don't honestly know why they decided to change the rules behind this and it makes the game very offense heavy as you said Rainedeath . I agree that if they want to do things like this, then you need to make it fair on the defensive side by removing meter for good defensive actions like turnovers and blocked shots. They are sacrificing their bodies and stamina, at least let them be able to keep the full pressure from happening for the hard work OR even lower the full pressure active time by like 5 seconds for that blocked shot or hit they went out of their way to make.
Which is another thing that makes full pressure so easy to obtain is that hits while you are breaking out the puck build so much meter and are allowed to be done so forgivingly. Thanks to my other big issue which is in the form of the lack of a fair hitting window upon release of the puck. People will just finish their checks and run players because of how forgiving this window is. It punishes players for making the right play of passing the puck off to a teammate only to get blasted by a player with Truculence over a second later without a call. This window, IMO needs to get halved down to make it more fair but just a little lower and I'd be happy to see that as well.
It's tiring having all my Forwards be dead because I am passing the puck off only for that player to get completely obliterated by my opponent behind the play.
