What mode(s) is this happening in?

Eashl. Buddy mentioned changing my dns on the Playstation. Did that. Still lag spiking. I've done the unplugging of the console and router/modem. Checked with provider for speed. All good. What else could you suggest? As I said before, all was fine right up till last Friday. Guess I'll try anything at this point. Thx.

We're not tracking any server issues at the moment. Did your provider check for packet loss? Speed isn't normally the issue as you don't really need a super fast connection. It's more about stability. If you're getting ping spikes, that's normally an indications there's packet loss somewhere. Your ISP may need to check the equipment in your area for any issues. There are some troubleshooting steps here that may help, but I'd start with having your ISP doing some thorough testing of the signal in your area.

I assume you mentioned this just started happening last Friday? Did anything happen to change with the devices connected to your network? Possibly, something is drawing a lot of bandwidth.
Also, make sure your modem/router has the latest firmware.
If you use a separate router, you can try plugging your console directly into the modem. This would bypass the router in case there are any issues with it.Have you tried playing any other games where the network can be monitored to see if there are ping spikes? You could also try running a trace route program to get more details on your connection. Unfortunately, I don't have one I can recommend.

Hey aljo, once again thx for the time to help me figure this out.
Nothing has changed in devices. My isp always updates automatically. I recently tried it on wifi just to see if it changed anything but the speed really drops as im in the basement and connection isn't the greatest. Hard to tell that way. I tried a quick drop in, results the same.
I'm now going to try running a new ethernet cable to check if my original cable has been compromised in any way. I will then also connect directly to the modem/router to test that.
Will let you know. I'm baffled but will try all that you're suggesting. Once again thank you for helping.

Sounds good. Let me know what happens.
You're very welcome! I'll do all I can to help with this. - nyi957 months agoSeasoned Rookie
Problem resolved! Plugging directly into the modem/router did the trick. Our modem only has two portals. We have an extra box plugged in to give an extra four. I switched from there to the router and all good now.
Thx again aljo for all your help and suggestions. Really appreciate the time you took to help.
Have a great day. 👍

You're very welcome! I'm glad that helped. It sounds like the device you were using is conflicting with the modem/router. You may want to contact your ISP to see if there are any other options for more ports if you need them.
Please reach out again if you have any other issues. Good luck and have fun!
