Goalie suggestions
I have a proposal for improving the 'instinct system.' The idea itself is really good, but I would like to see a more obvious representation and clearer benefits. For example, we could change the controls—assign the right stick (RS) entirely to guessing the shot, and set slide saves to the left stick (LS) combined with L3.
The instinct system should be visually represented by changes in the goalie’s stance. It could provide the goalie the ability to raise or lower their glove or blocker, seal the near post, or adjust the pad position to cover the near or far side. For instance, pushing RS up could reset the stance to the standard position. This modified stance would allow for shorter animations in the direction of the shot.
For forwards, it would serve as a visual cue regarding the goalie’s actions.
At the same time, I’d like to suggest changing the goalie fatigue system. In real life, a goalie is not always in a ready stance. There’s a way to adjust this. We could give the player the ability to manage their rest and readiness. Specifically, allow the goalie to control this aspect so that the outcome—whether they make the save or not—depends more on their skill. For example, using L2 could toggle between rest and readiness states.
When in rest, fatigue decreases; when in a stance, fatigue increases. We could even enhance the fatigue factor. When the opponent controls the puck in the offensive zone, it doesn’t always generate a dangerous shot. Or when our defensemen gain possession of the puck or engage in a battle, the goalie should have an opportunity to rest.
I believe this will introduce a new skill in fatigue management.
