I think what annoys me most about the LT glitch is how it's used to bait tripping penalties. Like you'll be defending 1v1 and start to go for a poke and the guy will just LT and draw an automatic tripping call. That kinda stuff just ruins the integrity of the game.
It is true that you can adjust, of course. What I've started doing is not pokechecking and just skating with the guy and waiting for him to come out of the glitch and knock the puck away with my player's body/stick. That said, just because you CAN get around a glitch doesn't mean you should have to stop utilizing an integral tool of the game to counter a glitch. Just fix the glitch. I don't think that's a lot to ask.
I'll also add that while the LT glitch doesn't actually make you faster compared to sprinting, it does create the ability to protect the puck while sprinting. When using the actual puck protect mechanic, your player slows down a bit. The LT glitch, however, lets you protect the puck while maintaining those high speeds you get from sprinting.
I don't think EA or devs are lazy or greedy or anything like that. I think the reason this glitch, among others, hasn't been fixed is because they probably don't know how. We've had other issues like settings not saving go unfixed for 2 games now. I don't think it's because the devs don't care, I think it's because every new game in the series is just adding to a pile of spaghetti code and every time they fix one thing, something else gets broken. That happens in any kind of software development. My guess is that some issues in this series won't be fixed until a brand new game is built completely from the ground up.

I agree that LT in its current state allows a puck carrier to use their back body to shield from defensive actions in unrealistic positions. However, a poke check should never be considered a reasonable action when a puck carrier is facing away from you. If you're being 'baited' into taking tripping penalties, it means you need to be more disciplined with the mechanic.

You're only being discouraged from using poke check because tripping probability increases once the puck carrier's back is towards you. This isn't the same thing as not 'utilizing an integral tool of the game to counter a glitch'. A poke check from behind a player should always have an increased probability of causing a trip.
Your method for beating this is exactly what people need to hear: You need to get close to the puck carrier and wait until the absolute last section to perform an action. Positioning is paramount.
But people make this mistake:
.. and then claim 'LT is being abused'.

And that's exactly what I've been saying. There is no speed boost. The current state of LT allows people to negate certain animations that would slow the player down.
