NHL 26 Ideas to implement
First and foremost,
I have been an avid NHL Gamer since NHL 2002 and I am 27 years old and have purchased every game and have always been a huge fan of the NHL series.
However, having said that. NHL 24 was a downhill game, one of the worst NHL games in the series next to NHL 15. NHL 25 was a step up, but much has to be done. From an experienced NHL Gamer, here’s what should be done.
Presentation:
- NHL 26 needs better intros. NHL 11, 12, 13, 14 had great intros, EA should bring those back or at least add more effort into the intros.
- In NHL 11, the glass shook when any player made contact with the glass. For example, in NHL 11 the glass would shake when my own player hit it without hitting another player. The glass only shakes when I make contact with an opposing player. EA should make the effort to bring this back in NHL 26 because the glass shakes a lot in a live NHL Game.
- Bring back the old boards instead of the digital one! Live NHL games don’t use electronics boards. Up until 24, EA started implementing electronic boards into the game and they should go back to the old way.
Pressure Meter
1. The Pressure meter wasn’t a bad idea, but here’s the problem. We don’t need to have the boards flashing red when a team has full pressure. When the away team has full pressure, the crowd chants the away team which is not very authentic. All in all, EA should get rid of the visibility of the pressure meter, on the ice and the boards and disallow the home crowd from saying “Go Away Team Go” when the away team has full pressure. It doesn’t make sense.
One Timer
- EA needs to get rid of the one timing indicators. I get one timers are apart of the game, but it makes the game look like an arcade game than an authentic hockey game. Keep the one timers in the game, but there’s no need to show the indicators. It’s too much for us, keep it simple.
EASHL
- Bring back the old store like NHL 23 and try bring in more equipment. That’s all I have to say for it.
Controls:
1. Bring back X/A to protect the puck, and RB+RS to dump the puck normally. Just like the old NHL games. Bring them back!
Conclusion:
NHL 25 was a step up, but I think EA should try and make the game look less like an arcade game and try to bring in what we see in actual hockey game. NHL 25 was good, I would rate it a 6/10, but much has to be done to make the game more authentic and playable for all. Keep up the good work EA, I have faith that NHL 26 will bring back the glory of NHL hockey games.
