The problem with Online Versus

Heres the problem with playing someone in Chel online.  Your opponent can pick the All time All stars and you still have to play against them.  Why don't both people have to agree on the teams before the match starts?  Or if you want a simpler solution, how about you can only play against teams in the same league.  That way if I wanted to play a WHL game for fun, I could play a fair opponent.  I'm just saying, I just lost to a toddler who picked the all time allstars and literally 8/10 shots went in and I quit and immediately sent this message.  Please fix this EA!

Just looked and the person I played against has a record of 1,622 wins and only 42 losses.  Nearly every single  one of those wins was a DNF win where the opponent quit because the game was completely unfair.  Literally 1,332 of those 1,622 wins were DNF wins.  What the heck EA, please fix this, it's a no-brainer.  Please stop letting people cheat in this way, it takes away from the fun of the game, and ruins a fair competition.

Hi there. Can you send me a private message with a screenshot showing their record? That's a pretty suspicious record with it having so many DNF wins. Thanks!

Agreed. The NHL needs to adopt a pick-your-fighter style of team selection screen so that both players can see who the other is picking. Of course, there's always the people who chime in about "pEopLe wiLL aBuSe ThIs" by sitting idle at the selection screen. Of course, this is avoidable by adding a countdown timer to your team select.

I've always thought EA could do such a better job incentivizing the use of all the teams they put into the game. In OVP, you could add timeframes where only teams from the CHL can be used. Other times it's All-Star teams only. During playoffs, have times where you can only use the teams that haven't been eliminated yet. When 4-Nations was going on, you could limit team selection to only those teams for a couple of hours during the day.

This is akin to what the UFC does to make sure online players use a wide range of different fighters and weight classes - they had timeframes where fighter selection is limited to certain weight classes and they give bonus points for using a lower-ranked team in defeating a high-ranked team.

Little things like this would freshen up OVP immensely.

  • I play lots of online versus, if you see you're matched up with an AllStar team, just leave before puck drops and not play them.  That's what I do after learning my lesson the hard way.

  • I play VS yeah and you do see  some "Mary's" playing with an all star team  ,but you can always back out of the game without getting a loss ....and you can also check your ping before a game I do it all the time and quit out if it's to high and you won't suffer a loss......all before puck drop of course
