ABILITY POINTS?!?!?

Has anyone ever gotten an answer as to why there are so few ability points available?

Pretty sure we had well over 50 AP available by this point last year in NHL 24 (anyone else remember?).  Whatever the number was, it was nowhere near 16 (which is where we are now).  Please update as I've been seeking an answer for quite a while now.

Hey there. This is just the way it was designed this year. If more points are added, we'll make an announcement.

  • There is less AP this year because there are many more players with free AP ... so they are needed less

EA also wants to ensure that more of these players are bought/made = more packs sold 🤑

Totally agree with your excerpt about the buying more packs. But the problem with this new ability format is. There is a limited number of players with adjusted points included. So if your decision is to select players other than these. You are stuck with 12 points distributed over 20 players. And like you alluded to regarding the push to pack buying. This is also a manipulative way of you also doing so. 250 ability pts last year. It made the idea of players with abilities reasonable. Nonsensical if you can't use them.

We know more pts won't be added. It would then be counter productive to the format they have already established.

We have 16 ability points now as gillick99 mentioned, not 12. Not that it makes a big difference, but I think it's worth mentioning. And again, abilities cost up to 8 points last year, whereas this year they cost only 2 points. And we didn't have 250 ability points at this time last year. It was at the very end of the year.

I didn't say when vsfn. My point was. Total difference. This year is 3/4s over. And still at 16. Tally how many cards have abilities tied in with them. And compare it too last year, where any card could be increased. Which system to you seems better? And just for the record. June 24. Abilities were at 96. Which would work out to roughly almost 5 per player. Any player! And comparing the variant in points. Taking 96 and dividing it by the highest #. 8 like you have stated. Would still allow 12 to be increased. 12 of your choosing. Not EAs.

Yes, if we exclude players with free abilities, we can say that EA was more generous with ability points last year than they have been this year. I'm just saying that the difference isn't as huge as you have been implying with your comments. And I think it's pointless to compare this year's ability points to last year's 250 points because it was a different time of the year. Comparing to 96 points while keeping in mind how much more expensive abilities were last year than this year makes much more sense. And the comparison shows that to get to the same level as we were in late June last year, the ability points limit would need to be raised to around 24. Let's hope EA will make that happen.
