Yep. It's been seen.
Regarding your rebuttal. You are looking at these cards like they are the actual player, and how he or she would perform in the game. The AI cannot differentiat between who is who. It is programmed to adapt to the algorithms it has been given. Similar rated cards will play pretty much the same, regardless the name on the card. Besides the acceleration, speed and endurance. How can you test the accuracy of the other ratings. And even the previous mentioned ones are debatable, as ratings change depending on levels you play at. This is just a game of numbers, not identities.
