In the end it was your own mistake that you submitted the wrong card to the set. You should always check the cards that were autofilled to the set before confirming it. Or if not always, at least with sets like this. In this case there were only 3 cards in the set, so it shouldn't have been too difficult to check.

I agree on this though. EA_Aljo Do you know how autofill picks the cards that it adds to a set from our collection? Is it random or is there some kind of logic behind it? It sometimes seems like it picks the cards that were most recently added to the collection, but I'm not sure if that's always the case. Anyway, it's clear that it doesn't always pick the best possible cards. For example in OP's case, if I understand correctly, it picked an upgradeable X-Factor card even though it could have picked a non-upgradeable X-Factor card. That shouldn't happen. It should prioritize non-upgradeable cards over upgradeable cards. Upgradeable cards show up first when we search for cards in our collection, and with the same logic autofill should use non-upgradeable cards whenever possible. And I think it should also prioritize untradeable cards over tradeable cards. And it should of course not stop working when it encounters a BND card. Do you know how autofill picks the cards and do you think it could be improved?

I believe you're right that EA would technically be able to give you the card that you accidentally submitted to the set. They might not be able to restore the exact same card with the upgrades that you had applied to it, but I believe they are able to see that you submitted that card to the set and therefore they could give you a new instance of that card. But for some reason they have decided not to return accidentally submitted cards. EA_Aljo Can you confirm or deny this?
@VSN. Give the guy a break here. Last thing he wants to here is admonishment regarding a mistake. I recall you mentioning in previous posts when I commented about getting rid of the low 80 cards. You said there were still newcomers to the game. Well we all don't have the schematics laid out for us that instructs what to do. As a lot of players are still novice players. Nor are there safe guards for making sure these mistakes don't happen. Like EA taking higher rated cards instead of base. This form is not so much about chats as it is about consternation towards the game and its lack of remedies. And as a last point. You are counter minding your previous point by your last statement. You hold the individual responsible. Then you question why. ?
I just wanted to state the fact that it was OP's mistake and let OP know how this kind of a mistake could have been avoided / can be avoided in the future. That's all. No admonishment or anything like that. I didn't mean anything bad to OP.
And yes, I can see this kind of a mistake being more likely to happen to a newcomer than to an experienced HUT player.

I don't think it's even possible to make it 100% sure that mistakes like this don't happen. As it is, when you hit the confirm button, the game asks you if you are sure that you want to confirm the set. In addition to this, EA could probably change autofill so that it would be less likely to use cards that you don't want to trade in, but I don't know what else they could do. And it would still be possible for autofill to use cards that you don't want to trade in.
Whatever EA does or doesn't do, the best way to avoid mistakes like this is to always check the cards that were autofilled to the set instead of just blindly confirming the set. Even if you are assuming that autofill won't use any cards that you don't want to trade in (for example in this case I can understand why OP didn't think that X-Factor Kucherov would be autofilled to the set), you should check the cards before being sure that you want to confirm the set.

No, autofill doesn't use higher overall cards instead of lower overall cards. It might use more valuable cards instead of less valuable cards, but not higher overall instead of lower overall. But if you are not referring to overall when you say "higher rated cards", then I believe the quoted sentence is true.

I don't quite understand this. The last point was about whether or not EA is technically able to return an accidentally submitted card. At that point the mistake has already happened, so I don't see how the last point would be against the previous points. And it was just speculation that EA would technically be able to return an accidentally submitted card. I don't know it for a fact and EA_Aljo hasn't confirmed it. But even if they are technically able to do that, accidentally submitting a card and EA refusing to return an accidentally submitted card are two different things.
My last point was. You started your reply by blaming chef on not being more observant. You then seemly took the side of chef by asking Aljo about remedying the problem. Since you made the point that it was chefs fault. Why counter with a request to fix. Apples to oranges. Doesn't matter. I'm sure your initial rebuttal was not meant to be vindictive. I replied because by observing it. It sounded as such.
