In order to use the game you need to add it to your EA account. It's ok if you don't download it right away, can definitely do it later, but it must appear in your game library on Origin 🙂

I would suggest to follow the steps of "purchase" and redeem the game for free. When you will be asked to download it, just deny, so you can do it at another time. Adding the game just to the cart will not make it appear on your account.
