Re: Freedom Force re-release?

@Krytor_007 Freedom Force is a game developed by Irrational Games (System Shock 2, SWAT4, Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite). The IP is now with Take 2 Interactive/2K Games. So only they can decide the future of the franchise.

EA was only the publisher for the first game, but they did not owned the IP. So you have better chances if you go on the 2K Games forums to inquire about 2K's plans for Freedom Force(if they have any).

At some point, Irrational started work on a third game in the franchise, but it was cancelled, Irrational making Bioshock instead of a third game for the Freedom Force series. The third game was supposed to have a seventies vibe and Ken Levine wanted to bring the series until the modern age (so more than one sequel was planned). But what Irrational wanted clashed with what 2K wanted and the Freedom Force series wasn't a strong seller in the eyes of 2K's. Mind you, it was before super-heroes media was cool again and before the digiral distribution being what it is now, so most super-hero games sold a few hundred thousands units.

The strongest sellers were the Marvel games like certain Spider-man titles, X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance. DC superheroes had a hard time to sell well in videogames until Arkham series and Injustice came. Freedom Force on the other hand...They were the new kids on the block. So the sales where decent, but not great. Still, the game style for their games was a love letter to the comic books that many grew up with. And yeah, i would love to see a new game in the series, too, but 2K doesn't seem interested into reviving and continuing the series...
