The Sims 4 returns to World Select after placing a household

The Sims 4 returns to World Select after placing a household, with glitched UI and Simoleon display

After creating a new household and selecting a world, I choose and purchase a residential lot. However, instead of loading into the lot, the game returns me to the World Select screen. The household preview in the corner displays a blue animated glitch, and the household funds (Simoleons) appear as ~~~. I cannot proceed to the lot or start playing with my household. The issue appears to involve both household loading and the user interface.

Please help me identify and fix this issue.
