I ended up nuking, and found that having so much space with so little content is daunting. It's a work in progress; gonna be experimenting with art I think.
This part I am very happy with though. Thanks everyone for the inspiration here...
THIS! I nuked my KL and have so much land and so little attractions. While I am a premium player, I have never actually spent donuts in KL (I actually just bought the Beer Fountain as it was cheap!).
One of the things I am also finding a challenge is not working within a grid. Designing a theme park flow is a lot different than designing a city. ehoffa21 is a perfect example of this (and one of the best layouts I've ever seen). Theme parks generally have connected areas. They can almost be sloppier in structure, as long as each area serves a purpose. Its a neat challenge.
The next hurdle is not just the lack of content - but the lack of decorations! How hard would it be to add some hedges from SF! It makes the designs like yukongirls amphitheater even more impressive.
I will never nuke my SF! But I will post some pics when I get to a better place with KL.
