I posted this question in the Springfield showcase thread, but I received no responses. The general discussion board is the place to be, so I thought I would repost my question:
So, I am following the Springfield Guide map and have my town modeled after it to get the most accurate Springfield I can. The hard part, is when a new building comes out, and I have to search over the entire map to see if I can find the building on it. I was wondering if there is a LIST of all buildings that are on the map. I don't see one on the official page, but I didn't know if anyone had put a list together. It would be extremely helpful.
Here is the map if anyone is interested in following the guide like I do:

I'm getting tired of people referring to this map as if it was authentic. It's not. It is not designed by Matt G.. It is a fan creation.
I have been building my SF to match the opening sequence of the show, since i started.
But the show has no official map, and town features have been illustrated in many, many, variations.
Have fun using any thing you want as a reference, but please do not propagate the misconception that this fan art is "accurate". Anyone's SF is equally accurate.
I'm curious why this bothers you so much? How does this effect your life? No one said this was the end all be all map of Springfield. It IS a good reference for sure, but the fact that it bugs you that people think it's an accurate map is curious, lol. Point me to a better map and I'll use it. But as you pointed out, the layout has changed many times on the show. But when did I say it was the true Springfield?
It doesn't bother me that much, which is why i edited my wording. I'm not bothered, but it is a mistake to suggest it's "accurate", or an official reference guide.
People in general frequently make a slight distortion to truth each time they repeat it. Repeated enough times, it usually becomes a completely different message, yet will still be delivered as it it were true when it's not. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT BOTHERS ME.
ive spent a lot of discussion time attempting to correct the distortions of truth propagated by people who regurgitate lies rather than verify the erroneous claims they are repeating.
This instance refers to something innocuous, like a video game. But when it refers to real life stuff, like healthcare, politics, or education, i take it seriously.
Thanks for asking!
