As soon as I visit my last neighbor I can release gremlins to I DO NOT go back to my town. I wait until morning and check to see how I've done. I feel like this works best for me. I rarely ever go over my goo bonus and I'm almost at 20,000 goo and have only missed out on about 150 goo total.
