Black Friday mystery box considerations/strategies

I haven’t found this discussed yet, but there are some interesting donut cost differences for the same prize in different boxes, that makes me think it is worth purchasing the lowest cost boxes (to an extent) to clear items out of the higher cost boxes to get your best value.

Here are some box items and the cost discrepancies between boxes:

Yard work simulator - Cyber: 75, Creatures: 15 😳!

Springfield Pet Shop - Retail: 50, Creatures: 15

Shauna - Characters: 80, Women: 60

President Lisa - Cyber: 75, Women: 60

Florence of Arabia - Women: 60, Imports: 50

Imaginary Bear - Bronze: 20, Creatures: 15

These were just from ones available to me. I’m sure there are more examples of items I already have.

Given, one’s donut surplus may prevent you from just purchasing cheaper items and not have donuts left for the bigger “want” items. But I would be annoyed to get the Yard work simulator in a Cyber box for 75 donuts when it is also available in the Creatures box for 15. I have a little over 700 donuts right now, over 100 items I don’t have yet, and some big ones I definitely want. At some point I will just have to try my luck but I am clearing out some Creatures first. 😝

Thoughts?

  • Anyone who cannot get a bundle because they already own one of the items, you can either click ‘me too’ on @EllieGuseman initial post in the following thread, or post your own thoughts at the end of the thread.

  • Only 26 persons clicked on 'me too' . Os, the message to EA is we are ok with bundles problems.... too few people complaining
  • Forgive me if this has already been posted, but just curious.

Most of the Black Friday Mystery Boxes list a minimum value at the bottom, and when you click to view on a few of them, I've noticed the amount of donuts varies in some of the boxes from what's on the outside.

For example, Silver Mystery Box says 60 donuts minimum value on the outside, but it costs only 50 donuts to purchase.

But on the other hand, Hidden Agenda Mystery Box says guaranteed minimum value of 60 donuts on the outside - and the cost is 60 donuts to purchase.

Only 3 - Cyber, Hidden Agenda and Buildings match donuts purchase with the minimum value on the outside.

All the others costs 10 donuts less to purchase than what's listed on the outside.

I know it's not a big deal, but just wondering why some are less than others.

I'm really enjoying this Black Friday Mystery Boxes - I'm able to make a lot of purchases!
  • It's a marketing gimmick. The item inside are all worth say 60 donuts. but the box only costs 50 donuts. So everything in the box is cheaper than its normal price, no matter which one you get.
  • ROSA is in Women MB for 60 donuts.

But she is a free NPC everyone obtains for free at Maggie's questline.

So, low level players can got it before they get Maggie. (What a rip-off!!)

And what will happen when they get the one from questline? They will have two of them at their town?
