Caught without money again...
When I first started buying huge chunks of land I would keep about 1 million saved just for lvl updates. I would recommend doing the same from here on out

I actually think 800,000 for a building at Level 41 is reasonable. I'm sure EA looked at the general average $ amount people had at different level points, and found it affordable.
I'm just a regular daily player who have been playing for a year ($freemium here), and I have just been waiting for updates and have lots of cash to spare.
You should use your extra land and turn it into a house farm, and gradually phase it out. I started with Purple houses, then gradually changed them to blue houses and white houses.
