I haven't started building Ally McBalls but I've been able to drop balls and then find the drop in the corresponding other town (the balls are small, there seems to be a 10-15 minute lag between when a ball drops and when I can find it (if you know you have a ball waiting like if a feeder town of yours sent a ball to your main town, I've found a server synch can be helpful (but the balls don't stay where you dropped them)

there's nothing that appears when you tap on a ball that someone else dropped telling you who it was from, and it seems like all you get from tapping the dropped ball is an addition to the community ball total (you don't get a new ball)
